Rabizza Sangiovese

Ejamu

Meca & Rocco's most ambitious red wine to date, this single vineyard 100% Sangiovese hails from the noblest rows in their Rabizza vineyard, located in Valdarno Di Sopra, hand harvested in the second half of September. The wine sees a spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in vitrified cement tanks with frequent, gentle pump overs for fifteen days. It is then racked to rigorously selected French oak tonneaux where it rests for 18 months. There are only a thousand bottles of this debut vintage and it portends greatness for the Luppino siblings' future.

The wine is a vivid ruby hue with ripe red and black cherries on the nose supplemented by floral and peppercorn nuances and a hint of barrel spiced showing like vanilla and cocoa. Gorgeous soft red fruit with finely textured tannins enrich the palate. Beautifully finessed! The generous guidance from seasoned enologist Giampaolo Chiettini is felt here as he has kindly assisted Rocco and Meca since the tragically early passing of their father. This is a beautiful wine to sit with.
